Position Summary:
Lead and develop application software for the Trane Official Product
Selection System (TOPSS) software, providing software customization
design and development, bug fixing, and second level technical support.
Work closely with designated business unit(s), understanding and
interpreting their requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Work as member of TOPSS application design and development team taking
lead responsibility for designated products.
- Work closely with business units--manage functional and process
requirements
- to business rule definition and software code within the TOPSS
application.
- Analyze business and user needs, document requirements, and revise
existing
- system logic as necessary. Document solutions.
- May need to work with 3rd party integrated software.
- May need to manage offshore resources
- Work closely with other TOPSS team members locally, nationally, and
offshore.
- Test reported defects, analyze different solutions, and recommend,
develop,
- and apply best solution and track through development, test, and
production
- environments.
- Provide technical expertise to help desk support personnel.
- Serve as technical subject-matter expert on TOPSS.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, MIS, or related technical field and 2-4
years of experience in an IT role required. Associate's degree in IT,
CS, MIS, or related technical field will be considered with 8 years of
IT experience.
- Programming experience using C++, C#, XML, Visual Basic, VB, Oracle
stored procedures, and SQL or similar for TOPSS programming and to
enable understanding of 3rd party software and its integration
functionality with TOPSS.
- Experience with multiple programming languages and operating
environments
- preferred.
- Experience with software development in the TOPSS environment
preferred.
- Ability to formulate and define systems scope and objectives through
research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable
business systems and industry requirements required.
- Experience in testing, deployment, and end-user support of software
applications desirable.
- Must be able to lead or participate in teams translating business
needs into systems requirements and developing application
enhancement/interface specifications.
- Must be able to function effectively in various environments,
including independently and in team situations.
- Ability to help set and meet short- and long-term deadlines required.
- Written and oral communications skills required. Must be able to
express concepts and ideas with clarity.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and priorities at the same time.
- Ability to develop and maintain documentation a plus. Project
management skills a plus.
